• DON'T FORGET TO PURCHASE YOUR UV FILTER FOR THIS LENS, IT'S HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
The Olympus 11-22mm f/2.8-3.5 is the current prosumer ultra-wide angle solution for four-thirds system DSLRs. Olympus has also a 7-14mm f/4ED lens on offer but at a price which is out of reach for most mortals.
Translated to classic 35mm film terms the angle-of-view (53 to 89 degree) resembles a 22-44mm lens. Please note that the depth-of-field remains connected to the real focal length so it's much bigger than with on classic cameras. You may debate whether this is disadvantage of the four-thirds system in general but in ultra-wide land this is probably more a feature than a bug in most situations.
Despite the rather large max. aperture the lens is very compact and unobtrusive which is typical for most four-thirds lenses. The lens weights just 485g with a min. length of 93mm. Its construction resembles its standard zoom cousin - the 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5.
